Meet Our Doctors
Dr. James Powell
Hello, I am Dr. Jim Powell. After graduating from Purdue in 1978 and moving here from Indiana, I was the youngest veterinarian in West Pasco. While this may no longer be the case, I can honestly say that I still love my job. I co-founded All Pets Hospital in 1982 and will be here until they run me out. Dr. Chewcaskie has been my business partner for 13 years and still puts up with me.
I have been married to my beautiful wife, Denise, since 1983 and have three gorgeous daughters: Rachel, Natalie, and Robin, and a granddaughter named Shelby. We have a house full with three cats, a bird, my wife's little dog Chloe, and our newest rescue dog Toby. Sadly I lost my best friend Darwin to bone cancer in August 2016.
Dr. Sheryl Chewcaskie
Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners
Hi, I'm Sheryl Chewcaskie, DVM, Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners specializing in canine and feline medicine. I have been Dr. Powell's faithful business partner for the past 13 years. Because I don't have enough stress in my life and love sleep deprivation, I also moonlight at the emergency clinic one night a week.
In my spare time (what spare time?), I am the maid and servant to three cats: Cheeto and Orville George ("the orange boys"), and a very bossy female named Luna Tuna who think that just because I am in the vicinity of the kitchen, it is time for TREATS!! I have been married to my wonderful husband and best friend, David for 17 years.
I love to cook and grow things in my garden. I have numerous fruits, veggies, and herbs but have a special affection for my "hot" peppers. I recently began experimenting with making pepper jelly and have made some very interesting varieties such as habanero raspberry and jalepeno. They are delicious but not for the faint of heart. I read numerous novels and am also a fitness buff varying my workouts between swimming, running, strength training, and yoga.
